Projects with a big potential: EFKO Group awarded the best Russian startups in Agro&FoodTech sector

26 November 2018, Belgorod – EFKO Group, one of the largest agro-industrial holdings and food products producers in Russia, organized the first Fair of startups «Startup: Land» in Agro&FoodTech sector. Association of private investors «Belye krylya» and corporation «Razvitie» from Belgorod region became co-organizers of the event. Within sessions EFKO Group chose winner of a special category with the project «Creation of biotechnological production of feed ingredients».

j7p5JozXcyg.jpgThe «Startup: Land» Fair - the event for innovators in Agro&FoodTech sector – took place in Belgorod in November. For the first time startups met at the same place with investors and corporations to discuss their projects, find partners for pilot implementations and conclude agreements. New sources of raw materials and food products, digitalization of agro-industrial complex and optimization of logistics and distribution were among top-priority directions of startups searching.

The «Startup: Land» program included participation in the work of panel discussions and pitch-sessions, acquaintance with production and business-processes of the companies, interaction with experts and an individual work with mentors.

Oleg Abramov, deputy governor of the region, chief of economic development department, opened the section «Innovations in Agro&FoodTech». He noted that food sector is one of the system-building sectors of the economy. «Today it’s necessary to maintain leadership, make a quick tug by means of new technologies including technologies developed by startups here within the «Startup: Land» Fair».

DOPdHrGrN90.jpgYoung developers could get acquainted with peculiarities of EFKO Group’s work with startups within lectures and educational intensives: «Storytelling and how to tell an investor about yourself correctly», «Which opportunities for startups acceleration programs provide», «Corporative acceleration as effective tool of collaboration between corporations and startups GeneretionS» and others. Andrey Zyuzin, deputy CEO of innovations and digitalization, and Anna Nenahova, director of EFKO Group’s innovations, were the speakers.

EFKO Group is one of the leaders in sector of innovations and advanced technologies in Russia and partners actively with regional and federal contests on innovation projects as well as works directly with startup-projects.

Modern equipment and effective team of research workers of the Innovation center «Biruch-NT» (EFKO Group’s R&D center) can appreciate a potential of each offered to the company project and suggest the authors of interesting ideas a full financial and expert support and a long-term collaboration on attractive to them conditions.

bEFF7CIAcUA.jpg«There are good ideas and today we see them. However, the main problem of young entrepreneurs is a fear of presentation and a lack of project packaging. Today our experts noted the high level of technological elaboration of the projects but at the same time in some of them there is no understanding of how and to whom the product should be sold. Within «Startup: Land» we helped the projects: together we finished business-models and presentations in general», - Anna Nenahova commented.

It should be noted that agro-tech direction became the key one among participants of «Startup: Land». At the selection stage there were 62 requests, 36 projects were invited to the educational intensives and just 15 projects reached the presentation stage for investors and corporations.

Finally, there were only 3 winning projects left. They will get the support of investors and the company and will be realized in Belgorod region.

4fmoK4_7edQ.jpgVladimir Yatsenko with the project «System of automatic management of phyto-spectrum for plant growing» won in the category «Project with a high investment potential».

Valeriya Kogan and Anton Lizunov with the project «Fermata» became first in the category «Project with a high potential to be realized in Belgorod region».

The work «Creation of biotechnological production of feed ingredients» won in a special category from EFKO Group - «Project with a high potential of development at the international market». Startupers of this project – Zlatislava Afanasieva and Maria Zharko – developed unique producer-strains that let produce ingredient rich in protein. They received from EFKO a certificate for a trip to the international conference «World Agri-tech» in San Francisco.

The «Startup: Land» Fair showed that to corporations and investors it’s important not only to get acquainted with startup projects and estimate their potential but also take serious decisions on introduction of Agro&FoodTech innovative solutions to the real production.
