EFKO Group opened in Belgorod region Center of cell technologies for 100 mn rubles

EFKO Group, one of the largest Russian agro-holdings, opened «Center of cell technologies Biruch» (CCT) in Krasnogvardeysky district of Belgorod region.

According to the company, investments to the project amounted to over 100 mn rubles.

The center will deal with extraction of concentrate of stem cells from umbilical blood of newborns and its storing. The blood will also be tested for presence of infections, its group and Rh factor.

«Such opportunity to store stem cells in biobank permits reduce the time for searching of a donor and accelerate the process of treatment of mentioned above diseases. So-called «register» storage of stem cells means their voluntary donation to a biobank with further usage for transplantation to those who may need it regardless of a connection with the donor», - press center of the Group explains.

The center will open scientists an opportunity to study in more detail methods and technics of disease treatment by means of stem cells.

Center of cell technologies has been built in accordance with the world standards of quality and safety GMP and got a license to practice medical activity.

According to the system «SPARK-Interfax», «CCT Biruch» LLC was registered in 2018 in Belgorod region. The head office is «EFKO Food products» JSC. Core business – scientific studies and developments in natural and technical sciences.

EFKO Group deals with production of food ingredients for confectionary, baking and other sectors of food industry. It is a large producer of mayonnaise, vegetable oil, ketchup, milk and milk-fermented products as well as components for feeds for farm animals and poultry.

Products of the company are exported to over 40 countries. Production assets are located in Belgorod, Sverdlovsk, Krasnodar, Moscow regions and Kazakhstan.
