EFKO Group organized a seminar to prepare food products producers to the «green» revolution

30 September 2019, Moscow, Russia – EFKO Group, leader of specialized fats and margarines market in Russia and EEU countries held a traditional autumn seminar for partners that joined over 70 representatives of 35 large Russian and foreign enterprises of confectionary, baking and other sectors of food industry, scientific institutes and industrial associations.

EFKO-2.jpgAn extensive tasting of products based on vegetable ingredients opened the event. The guests tasted over 10 types of functional and alternative products: desserts with soybean and oat milk, gluten-free cookies with rice and corn flour, waffles with food fiber and other finished products prepared by specialists of EFKO Group’s R&D-center especially for the seminar according to the unique recipes.

Presented samples received high marks of the participants. The guests noted not only the taste of the products but also a growing popularity of this segment of the market.

«I liked butter cookies with rice flour. Everything is perfect: the structure, the outstanding taste of pistachio and almond in combination with dark glazing… Another good thing is that such a delicacy can be considered as a «gluten-free product». In my opinion, in that regard, EFKO technologists managed to take a look into the future because the trend on healthy diet is growing quickly and consumers are interested in such products», - Irina Pugacheva, head technologist of the confectionary factory «Pobeda», shared her impressions.

However for Russia gluten-free confectioneries, products low in sugar and vegetable alternatives to dairy products are just novelties while abroad they have already been popular for many years.

There is also a demand for products with vegetable ingredients in the Middle East. Reid Zuabi, head technologist of R&D-center of the company TNUVA – a large producer of food products in Israel, told how millennial generation influences on food industry:

«Demand for traditional food products at the market is slowly falling. Modern consumers more often prefer products of vegetable origin instead of animal one that stimulates the world famous companies to invest into creation of alternatives to milk products, meat, cheese and develop this segment. We are sure that the market of products based on vegetable ingredients will have a bright future and all of us will witness a real «green revolution», - Reid Zuabi shared his opinion.

EFKO-98.jpgWithin the business program participants of the seminar discussed another current issues of the sector: questions on contaminant rationing in food industry. Besides, there was a topic on sugar substitution in food products. Oleg Medvedev, Doctor of Medicine, chief of R&D-center «Healthy diet», told about potential advantages of protein sweeteners, production technologies and prospects for the use in food industry.
